IT strategy preparation for a country wide water supply and sewage services firm

Our client is a utility firm providing water supply and sewage services for the whole territory of a dynamically developing Central Asian country. To meet the strategic expectations such as provision of 7/24 water supply, significant reduction of NRW or increased financial and management control of the company our client has to transform its operation to become a modern process oriented utility company. The only way to meet these challenges is intensive and focused development of ICT technology. Clarity Consulting has prepared ICT strategy for this company within international cooperation that defined the major ICT projects to be delivered in the following years.

Clarity Consulting has a special position as we had a chance to assist Budapest Waterworks in its development of the past 20 years along its way of the transformation from a post socialist firm to a modern, European process oriented utility company. Being a member of the Hungarian Water Cluster Clarity Consulting also has direct access to the state-of-the art knowledge of the leading Hungarian companies of water industry. Based on this knowledge and experience we performed this work during a 6-months period.

The ICT strategy consists of 25 strategic projects: focusing on establishment of flexible ITC infrastructure, development of corporate applications and enhancement of the integration among them, building up high quality databases and improvement of general ICT culture in the company. As a part of the project together with Budapest Waterworks we also made a short film that shows the vision that our client could achieve by implementing its ITC strategy.

Results in numbers:

  • 6 months work
  • Benchmarking with 8 utility companies
  • 25 strategic projects grouped into 5 project streams
  • 110 pages of ICT strategy documentation
  • Executive summary presentation on 2 languages (English, Russian)
  • 15 minutes of the short film on the vision of the future operation
